Julia has been an art teacher in Jamaica and after that had a ceramics and print-making studio in Derbyshire. Then she gave it all up to accompany her husband to work first for 4 years in Bangladesh, India and Nepal and then for 25 years in Mozambique supported for 7 of those years by Unicef as an illustrator of children’s school books and as a consultant to the Mozambican Institute of Social Communication which involved her in puppetry, educational posters, newspapers and film-making.
Since retiring she has enjoyed making watercolour paintings inspired by local features such as the Hammond Arboretum in Market Harborough.
