Hepworth Art Gallery visit

At the end of May, we went on the train to Wakefield, in Yorkshire, to visit the inspirational Hepworth Art Gallery. This lovely, light filled gallery combines attractive spaces, contemporary exhibitions, huge windows with interesting views, an excellent cafe and helpful staff.

The gallery is home to Wakefield’s art collection, including works by Henry Moore, Ben Nicholson and L S Lowry, and has dedicated galleries exploring Barbara Hepworth’s art and working processes, including a display of her tools and several of her large sculptures.

Our visit was timed to catch the last day of Anthony McCall’s exhibition SOLID LIGHT WORKS, an unforgettable, interactive experience in huge darkened spaces, and as ever, we are reminded that visiting galleries and exhibitions continues to stimulate and inspire our own work. Danièle and Roger
